For this walkthrough we will get your acquainted with your Super AFC II and its many functions. We will begin by answering the overwhelming number of emails that have flooded our mailboxes all with the same question. Will the New Super AFC work with a Second Generation Eclipse? After extensive testing and work, we have found that no, the unit will not monitor knock signals from a OBDII vehicle. That aside, we will begin with more information about this unit

Physical Measurements of the Super AFC II :
2.48 inches tall
4.941 inches long
.974 inches deep

Slightly smaller in size than the Old Super AFC. And the corners taper down slightly for those that wanted the measurements for mounting purposes.



As you can see here, the New Super AFC uses finer points and adjustible rpm intervals for a more granular tuning experience. A simple switch of the thumbstick up will toggle between this expanded view and the simple view, shown below



This view is more common for older Super AFC users.

Depressing down on the thumbstick at almost any screen will bring up this useful shortcut menu. This will allow you to jump to most menu screens with relative ease.

Tp - Jump to TOP - Will take you to the main branch of the menu
Pr - Jump to Previous Screen
Nx - Jump to Next Screen
Cn - Cancel action



We will now go over one of the newer features, Datasets within the SettingMenu. Locate this menu all the way at the end of the Setting Menu. Switching from DataSET1 and DataSET2 will change the settings of the AFC depending on boost levels / types of gas / etc.



By switching from dataset1 to dataset2, the AFC will remember the settings per datafile. For example, you can tune your car to 91 octane pump gas, and when you're ready to race at the track, raise the boost, pump in higher octane, and select your pretuned datafile 2 which holds all your race gas settings. Very useful feature



Simply highlight File 1 or File 2 and turn the knob left or right to turn this setting on or off. Turning one on will turn the other off.

We will now go over the knocking set feature found in the new AFC. We have found this to work in most OBDI vehicles. We have begun testing and will document our findings in the final walkthrough of this writeup. Here we will explain how to set the knock features.



Turn the car on and locate the knocking set menu within the settings menu. The AFC will ask you to rev the car in and out of gear in between 2 intervals. 1300-1700 rpm and 3500-3700 rpm.



As you rev the car to try and "tune" the knock feature, the car will read noise levels for the rpm range and give you a reading per rpm range.



If this is done correctly, the AFC will then know, exactly what is acceptable noise levels are within the motor and what it "learns" as knock.



We will go further into tuning your knock settings in the final walkthrough "Tuning your AFCII"



This password feature found in the new AFCII will allow you to "lockdown" your AFC to prevent any tampering. Find the password feature ( 6th selection ) in the etc menu. Select "Change pass" to take you to a 4 digit password entry screen. You will be asked to enter it twice to prevent any mistakes. AFter you enter your password, you can lock the settings in the AFC.



The monitor feature is the same as the previous AFC with the exception of a few different fields



Knock readings are in percentages of knock instead of raw knock counts. What this will tell you is based on how you have "tuned" the knock feature, the AFC will tell you what it perceives in percentage as knock based on its knock settings.



Warning Sets are found under the etc Menu. There are several fields to base your AFCII warning upon.

AflW : Air Fuel Warning
PrW : Pressure Sensor Warning
KarW : Karman Sensor Warning
KnKW : Knock Sensor Warning
RevW : Rev Meter Warning

Based on your inputted settings the AFCII will warn you when it passes any of these parameters.

We have a full set of BASE maps provided by Apexi for certain cars. All these settings are air filter at MOST. DO NOT completely use these settings for your car. Use them as a base only!! We are not responible for any settings, changes you perform on your car. Make sure to have a datalogger, a/f or EGT gauge before you attempt to really tune your car. Failure to do this may cause damage to your motor! Every car differs from another.. these maps are here for you to gain a base from and start tuning from there. We will not take any responsibility for any damage!
